Over the weekend, we took the hounds to Chatfield State Park (about 30 miles south of Denver) for some outdoor adventuring! For Winry's 4th birthday (on August 12th), I decided to purchase the $70 annual state park pass for Colorado, so we could freely visit Cherry Creek State park up the street, but we decided to make an event of it and travel a little for some new sights closer to the mountains. We took them to the 69 acre fenced dog park, and needless to say, they had a blast! Ferguson continues to prove himself the much better of the two when it comes to being offleash. Maybe this is because he is overly attached, but in this circumstance, I appreciated him coming back and checking in and reliably responding to calls. Winry acts more like I imagine most greyhounds do: she gets very focused on things, and then is deaf/oblivious to everything else around her. I purposefully tried to not call her unless I thought she was paying attention and would actually respond. I don't take it personally though...if she had a good smell, she was oblivious even to other dogs, or Ferguson: her favorite things! In any case, she stayed with us, and we leashed her through more "challenging" parts where we couldn't keep her attention.
The pictures I got were merely taken on my iphone, but came out pretty well just the same:

Happy Birthday to Winry! I wouldn't have any problem with Bunny in a large off leash park, but that would be one giant challenge for Flattery. I wish we had something like that here. It would be well worth the $70 for us!
Happy birthday Winry. Looks like you and Ferguson had a great time.
Happy Birthday! What a great adventure.
Winry and Ferguson looked like they were having real fun and loved the water!
Beautiful photos! I've got a couple questions for you. When you get a chance, can you email me?
